The first Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle with regard to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. By 1931 Ferdinand Porsche along with Zündapp developed the prototype Automobile für Jedermann ("car for everyone"), which was the very first time the name Volkswagen was used.
