The initial Zündapp motorcycle was this model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle regarding everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was stated in large series. Zündapp's history of weighty motorcycles began in 1933 with the K-series. The "K" refers to the drivetrain that these models used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft along with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then the novelty). The series encompassed products from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a serious success, increasing Zündapp's market discuss in Germany from 5% with 1931 to 18% within 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . (21 kW) flat opposed twin cylinder electric motor with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often in addition to a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Footwear no. 1) sidecar body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively to the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and in the end replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was for being the only remnant to live beyond the destruction connected with war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production within the late 1940s, it chose to reuse the KS600's motor to help power the KS601 having few modifications. The Zündapp K800 received unit construction, flat-four engines with canal drive (a structure adopted by Honda with the Gold Wing in 1974) and were the only real 4-cylinder machines used from the German armed forces inside WWII.

Via 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and also Zündapp developed the prototype Automotive für Jedermann ("car intended for everyone"), which was the new the name Volkswagen has been used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder toned engine, but Zündapp used a water-cooled 5-cylinder radial serps. In 1932 three prototypes have been running. All three cars were lost in the war, the last in a 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp created the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp having a foot gear change, and 170 examples ended up built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced more than 18, 000 units of this Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit having a driven side wheel and also a locking differential, supplied to the A language like german Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines such as 9-092, which was used throughout light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) abs initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the organization transitioned to smaller machines, notably the "Bella" engine scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine due to the type. In 1951 Zündapp released a final of its heavy motorcycle models, but one of its most famous: the KS601 (this "green elephant") having a 598 cc two-cylinder serps. From 1957 to 1958 this company also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the corporation moved from Nuremberg to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed various new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines and only produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some achievements in motorsports with participant André Malherbe winning your 125cc European motocross championships in 1973 and again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds distributed well, but later sales diminished and in 1984 the organization went bankrupt and closed.

Zündapp is still in business, but makes Honda dependent 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had some sort of technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to develop mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory seemed to be built at Ranipet near Chennai from the early 1980s to create small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced being a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake plus a sleeveless hard chromed storage container barrel, all were a first on a motorcycle in that region.
