Zündapp was an essential German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917 in Nuremberg by simply Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and also the machine tool manufacturer Thiel within the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau H. m. b. H. " as a manufacturer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is actually German for Igniter as well as Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand intended for weapons parts declined after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor in the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the particular microcar, moped and Scooter (street motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed inside 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets bi-cycle and electric bicycles while using Zundapp name and emblem. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.

The initial Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle regarding everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of large motorcycles began in 1933 while using the K-series. The "K" refers to the kind of drivetrain that these designs used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then a novelty). The series encompassed designs from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a major success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% in 1931 to 18% throughout 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 horsepower (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder motor with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often in conjunction with a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Footwear no. 1) sidecar body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively to the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and eventually replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was being the only remnant to live on beyond the destruction associated with war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production within the late 1940s, it chose to recycle the KS600's motor to power the KS601 having few modifications. The Zündapp K800 received unit construction, flat-four engines with canal drive (a page layout adopted by Honda for your Gold Wing in 1974) and were the sole 4-cylinder machines used through the German armed forces with WWII.

Coming from 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automotive für Jedermann ("car with regard to everyone"), which was the new the name Volkswagen has been used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder toned engine, but Zündapp used some sort of water-cooled 5-cylinder radial serps. In 1932 three prototypes had been running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in any 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp produced the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp that has a foot gear change, and 170 examples had been built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced a lot more than 18, 000 units of your Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit using a driven side wheel along with a locking differential, supplied to the German born Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines like 9-092, which was used inside light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) stomach initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the corporation transitioned to smaller machines, notably the "Bella" powerplant scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine due to the type. In 1951 Zündapp released the final of its heavy motorbike models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (your "green elephant") using a 598 cc two-cylinder engine. From 1957 to 1958 the company also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the organization moved from Nuremberg to help Munich. Subsequently, the company developed a number of new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines in support of produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some achievement in motorsports with biker André Malherbe winning the 125cc European motocross competition in 1973 and all over again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds sold well, but later sales dropped and in 1984 this company went bankrupt and sealed.

Following the bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties seemed to be bought by Xunda Electric motor Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bicycles from 1987 till the first 1990s. Zündapp is still operating, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and power mopeds.Zündapp also had any technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to make mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus as well as the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced as being a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed canister barrel, all were a first over a motorcycle in that nation.
