Zündapp was a major German motorcycle manufacturer created in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Grams. m. b. H. " as a developer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau will be German for Igniter along with Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand for weapons parts declined soon after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor from the company, and two years later he diversified in the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into this microcar, moped and Scooter (street motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed inside 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets bike and electric bicycles while using Zundapp name and brand. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.
The initial Zündapp motorcycle was your model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle with regard to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of large motorcycles began in 1933 with the K-series. The "K" refers to the kind of drivetrain that these types used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft having two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then the novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a significant success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% in 1931 to 18% inside 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder motor with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often coupled with a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Footwear no. 1) sidecar entire body was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively towards Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and in the end replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to be the only remnant to reside in beyond the destruction associated with war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production in the late 1940s, it chose to recycle the KS600's motor to power the KS601 along with few modifications. The Zündapp K800 received unit construction, flat-four engines with base drive (a structure adopted by Honda with the Gold Wing in 1974) and were the one 4-cylinder machines used with the German armed forces inside WWII.
