From 1931 Ferdinand Porsche along with Zündapp developed the prototype Auto für Jedermann ("car intended for everyone"), which was the first-time the name Volkswagen was used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder level engine, but Zündapp used some sort of water-cooled 5-cylinder radial motor. In 1932 three prototypes were being running. All three cars were lost in the war, the last in any 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp generated the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp that has a foot gear change, and 170 examples were being built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced in excess of 18, 000 units of the actual Zündapp KS 750. Following bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties has been bought by Xunda Generator Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorcycles from 1987 till the early 1990s. Zündapp is still in business, but makes Honda dependent 4-stroke motorcycles and electrical mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to make mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus along with the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (dependant on Zündapp KS175) was introduced to be a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake plus a sleeveless hard chromed cyndrical tube barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that nation.
