Zündapp was a serious German motorcycle manufacturer started in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG plus the machine tool manufacturer Thiel under the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Grams. m. b. H. " as a maker of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is actually German for Igniter along with Apparatus). The primary Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle regarding everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. Following your bankruptcy, the entire production brand and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Electric motor Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bicycles from 1987 till the first 1990s. Zündapp is still operating, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electrical mopeds.Zündapp also had any technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to construct mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to make small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet. Enfield launched two 50 cc motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus as well as the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (according to Zündapp KS175) was introduced as being a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed cylinder barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that region.
