Zündapp was an important German motorcycle manufacturer launched in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG along with the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Grams. m. b. H. " as a maker of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is usually German for Igniter in addition to Apparatus). The initial Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was stated in large series. Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 with all the K-series. The "K" refers to the type of drivetrain that these versions used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft along with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then a novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 400 cc displacement and was a serious success, increasing Zündapp's market write about in Germany from 5% with 1931 to 18% with 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hewlett packard (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder motor with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). After the bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties seemed to be bought by Xunda Engine Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp cycles from 1987 till earlier 1990s. Zündapp is still in business, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and electrical mopeds.Zündapp also had some sort of technical collaboration with Regal Enfield (India) to create mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to create small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet. Enfield launched two 50 cc motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus plus the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (depending on Zündapp KS175) was introduced as a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed cyndrical tube barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that land.
