Following the bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties had been bought by Xunda Generator Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bicycles from 1987 till the early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had a new technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to construct mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory had been built at Ranipet near Chennai in the early 1980s to create small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus plus the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced as being a performance motorcycle.
