Zündapp was a major German motorcycle manufacturer started in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG along with the machine tool manufacturer Thiel within the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau H. m. b. H. " as a company of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau will be German for Igniter and also Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand with regard to weapons parts declined soon after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor in the company, and two years later he diversified to the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the actual microcar, moped and Scooter (motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed inside 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets bike and electric bicycles with all the Zundapp name and company logo. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.
The primary Zündapp motorcycle was the actual model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle pertaining to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of hefty motorcycles began in 1933 with the K-series. The "K" refers to the sort of drivetrain that these designs used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft together with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 800 cc displacement and was a significant success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% within 1931 to 18% inside 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hp . p . (21 kW) horizontally opposed twin cylinder powerplant with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often coupled with a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Footwear no. 1) sidecar system was produced between 1938 along with 1941 and supplied exclusively for the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and finally replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to be the only remnant to live on beyond the destruction associated with war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production inside the late 1940s, it chose to reuse the KS600's motor for you to power the KS601 with few modifications. The Zündapp K800 acquired unit construction, flat-four engines with the whole length drive (a structure adopted by Honda to the Gold Wing in 1974) and were really the only 4-cylinder machines used because of the German armed forces in WWII.

Coming from 1931 Ferdinand Porsche as well as Zündapp developed the prototype Automobile für Jedermann ("car regarding everyone"), which was the new the name Volkswagen was used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder toned engine, but Zündapp used the water-cooled 5-cylinder radial serps. In 1932 three prototypes were running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in the 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp made the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp having a foot gear change, and 170 examples have been built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced a lot more than 18, 000 units of the Zündapp KS 750. This is a sidecar outfit with a driven side wheel along with a locking differential, supplied to the In german Wehrmacht.Zündapp also made aircraft engines such as 9-092, which was used throughout light aircraft, including the Brunswick LF-1 Zaunkönig (1942) belly initio trainer aircraft.

After WWII the organization transitioned to smaller devices, notably the "Bella" electric motor scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine for its type. In 1951 Zündapp released the past of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most famous: the KS601 (the actual "green elephant") having a 598 cc two-cylinder powerplant. From 1957 to 1958 the business also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar. In 1958 the corporation moved from Nuremberg to help Munich. Subsequently, the company developed several new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines in support of produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some achievement in motorsports with driver André Malherbe winning this 125cc European motocross competition in 1973 and again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds offered well, but later sales dropped and in 1984 the company went bankrupt and shut down.

Following bankruptcy, the entire production brand and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Powerplant Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bikes from 1987 till earlier 1990s. Zündapp is still operational, but makes Honda centered 4-stroke motorcycles and power mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to create mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to create small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus along with the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (according to Zündapp KS175) was introduced as being a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake plus a sleeveless hard chromed cylinder barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that region.
