H. " as a developer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is German for Igniter as well as Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand for weapons parts declined after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor of the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the particular microcar, moped and Scooter (street motorcycle) markets. The company collapsed inside 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets cycle and electric bicycles using the Zundapp name and company logo. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.

Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. The "K" refers to the drivetrain that these types used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft together with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (a novelty). The series encompassed designs from 200 to eight hundred cc displacement and was an essential success, increasing Zündapp's market write about in Germany from 5% inside 1931 to 18% with 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hp (21 kW) flat in a trench opposed twin cylinder generator with overhead valves displacing 597 closed circuit (36. 4 cu in). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Boot no. 1) sidecar body was produced between 1938 as well as 1941 and supplied exclusively towards the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and ultimately replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to be the only remnant to live on beyond the destruction of war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production inside late 1940s, it chose to recycling the KS600's motor to be able to power the KS601 having few modifications. The Zündapp K800 acquired unit construction, flat-four engines with the whole length drive (a layout adopted by Honda for that Gold Wing in 1974) and were the only real 4-cylinder machines used through the German armed forces with WWII.

From 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automobile für Jedermann ("car with regard to everyone"), which was the very first time the name Volkswagen seemed to be used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder level engine, but Zündapp used some sort of water-cooled 5-cylinder radial serps. In 1932 three prototypes were being running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in a new 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp created the KKS500 model. Zündapp is still operating, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Regal Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to make small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet.
