Zündapp was an important German motorcycle manufacturer launched in 1917 in Nuremberg simply by Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG along with the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Gary the gadget guy. m. b. H. " as a developer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau can be German for Igniter and also Apparatus). The very first Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of weighty motorcycles began in 1933 while using the K-series. The "K" refers to any type of drivetrain that these models used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then a novelty). The series encompassed products from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a serious success, increasing Zündapp's market discuss in Germany from 5% in 1931 to 18% throughout 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . After WWII this company transitioned to smaller products, notably the "Bella" generator scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine to its type. In 1951 Zündapp released the final of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most famous: the KS601 (your "green elephant") which has a 598 cc two-cylinder engine. From 1957 to 1958 the business also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar.In 1958 the business moved from Nuremberg to help Munich. Subsequently, the company developed numerous new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines and only produced two-stroke models. Zündapp experienced some good results in motorsports with rider André Malherbe winning this 125cc European motocross titles in 1973 and yet again in 1974. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds marketed well, but later sales declined and in 1984 the corporation went bankrupt and closed.

As soon as the bankruptcy, the entire production collection and intellectual properties seemed to be bought by Xunda Engine Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bicycles from 1987 till the early 1990s. Zündapp is still in business, but makes Honda structured 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had a new technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to create mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory seemed to be built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to manufacture small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (depending on Zündapp KS175) was introduced like a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and a sleeveless hard chromed storage container barrel, all were a first on the motorcycle in that region.
