Zündapp was a major German motorcycle manufacturer created in 1917 in Nuremberg by simply Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel under the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Gary the gadget guy. m. b. H. " as a developer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is actually German for Igniter as well as Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand regarding weapons parts declined right after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor of the company, and two years later he diversified in to the construction of motorcycles.Following WWII, Zündapp expanded into the actual microcar, moped and Scooter (street bike) markets. The company collapsed in 1984.Zuendap. biz markets markets cycle and electric bicycles when using the Zundapp name and logo. while Zuendapp.com markets "enduro-sport" motorcycles under the Zundapp brand.

The first Zündapp motorcycle was the actual model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 while using K-series. The "K" refers to any type of drivetrain that these types used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft having two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then the novelty). The series encompassed products from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was a major success, increasing Zündapp's market reveal in Germany from 5% throughout 1931 to 18% with 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . (21 kW) flat in a trench opposed twin cylinder generator with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). The KS600 was often in addition to a Steib sidecar, the BW38 (Beiwagen 1938). The BW38, fitted with the B1 (Boot no. 1) sidecar entire body was produced between 1938 and also 1941 and supplied exclusively towards the Wehrmacht. While the KS600 was discontinued and finally replaced by the purpose-built KS750, its motor was to become the only remnant to reside beyond the destruction of war. When Zündapp returned to motorcycle production inside late 1940s, it chose to recycle the KS600's motor for you to power the KS601 with few modifications. The Zündapp K800 got unit construction, flat-four engines with canal drive (a layout adopted by Honda for your Gold Wing in 1974) and were the sole 4-cylinder machines used by the German armed forces within WWII.

Via 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and Zündapp developed the prototype Automotive für Jedermann ("car pertaining to everyone"), which was the very first time that the name Volkswagen was used. Porsche preferred the 4-cylinder ripped engine, but Zündapp used a new water-cooled 5-cylinder radial powerplant. In 1932 three prototypes were being running. All three cars were lost over the war, the last in a new 1945 Stuttgart bombing raid. From 1936 to 1938 Zündapp developed the KKS500 model. This was the first Zündapp with a foot gear change, and 170 examples ended up built. From 1940 onward Zündapp produced over 18, 000 units of the particular Zündapp KS 750. Initially, Zündapp scooters and mopeds marketed well, but later sales dropped and in 1984 the company went bankrupt and shut down.

After the bankruptcy, the entire production collection and intellectual properties had been bought by Xunda Electric motor Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorcycles from 1987 till their early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electric mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to construct mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 cc motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus along with the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle.
