Zündapp was a significant German motorcycle manufacturer started in 1917 in Nuremberg by simply Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG as well as the machine tool manufacturer Thiel under the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau G. m. b. The 1st Zündapp motorcycle was this model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. After the bankruptcy, the entire production series and intellectual properties was bought by Xunda Powerplant Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp bikes from 1987 till early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electric mopeds.Zündapp also had a new technical collaboration with Noble Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory had been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Bullet. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus as well as the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (dependant on Zündapp KS175) was introduced being a performance motorcycle.
