The first Zündapp motorcycle was your model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle with regard to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was manufactured in large series. Zündapp's history of major motorcycles began in 1933 with all the K-series. Following the bankruptcy, the entire production collection and intellectual properties has been bought by Xunda Generator Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorbikes from 1987 till early 1990s. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda centered 4-stroke motorcycles and energy mopeds.Zündapp also had a technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to develop mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai in the early 1980s to produce small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and also the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (based on Zündapp KS175) was introduced as a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake plus a sleeveless hard chromed cylinder barrel, all were a first on a motorcycle in that land.
