Zündapp was an essential German motorcycle manufacturer created in 1917 in Nuremberg by means of Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel beneath the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau Gary. m. b. H. " as a maker of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is usually German for Igniter and Apparatus). The initial Zündapp motorcycle was your model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle intended for everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of heavy motorcycles began in 1933 with all the K-series. The "K" refers to any type of drivetrain that these designs used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft with two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then the novelty). The series encompassed types from 200 to 800 cc displacement and was a major success, increasing Zündapp's market reveal in Germany from 5% with 1931 to 18% throughout 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 hp (21 kW) width wise opposed twin cylinder motor with overhead valves displacing 597 cc (36. 4 cu in). Through 1931 Ferdinand Porsche as well as Zündapp developed the prototype Auto für Jedermann ("car intended for everyone"), which was the first time the name Volkswagen was used. After WWII this company transitioned to smaller products, notably the "Bella" generator scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine to its type. In 1951 Zündapp released one more of its heavy street motorcycle models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (your "green elephant") that has a 598 cc two-cylinder serp. From 1957 to 1958 the organization also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar.In 1958 the organization moved from Nuremberg to be able to Munich. Zündapp is still running a business, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had a new technical collaboration with Royal Enfield (India) to develop mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory was built at Ranipet near Chennai inside early 1980s to production small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered along with their flagship Royal Enfield Round. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus plus the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (determined by Zündapp KS175) was introduced being a performance motorcycle. It had 5-speed gearbox, a hydraulic Brembo disc brake and also a sleeveless hard chromed storage container barrel, all were a first with a motorcycle in that land.
